Here are a few of the events around the area commemorating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Gary United Methodist in Wheaton will feature a presentation by Dr. Harold Middlebrook Monday night at 6:30pm. Middlebrook was involved in the Civil Rights Movement in Atlanta and was with Dr. King when he was assassinated. Details are available at this link.
The Glen Ellyn Public Library is hosting an event called Walking With Dr. King: A Personal Journey at 7pm. The speaker will be Ernest Gibson, who was active in the fight for civil rights in Alabama and survived a Klan bombing of his family’s business. Details here.
Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church will present a webcast of a message by Dr. Willie Jennings at Calvin College, in the Garden Room at 11:30am. Jennings’ lecture is entitled, Dreaming the End of Racial America. Details here.
